Epic Sinks Gears 2 Pirate/Modder in Court

A St. Louis modder/reseller brazen enough to advertise early copies of Gears of War 2 out in the open on Craigslist just got his ass handed to him in court. Technically, it's a settlement, but looking at the terms, this guy sued for peace with an unconditional surrender to Epic Games.

Roger Altmeyer and the "St. Louis Mod Shop" is barred from selling Gears of War 2 ever again. Furthermore, he'd been advertising modded Xboxes that would play it and other illegal copies of games online. He's out of that business too, for good. He also has to turn over all his remaining mod stock, any parts "capable of circumventing copyright restrictions," assist Epic in identifying others violating copyright restrictions, pay Epic some money and say he's real sorry, in public. My guess is lawyer fees is on top of that prize package too.

LGJ: User Content Creation Crisis

It appears there has been a bit of a controversy
over the recent changes to the PSN Terms of Service with regard to
user-generated content, which seems to be at least in part tied to the
release of the Sackboy epic Little Big Planet.
Of course, user-created content is nothing new, and neither is the
management of the licenses associated with that content. However, it
seems like as good a time as ever to discuss the issue of managing the
intellectual property rights of user created content and what that can
mean for you, the user, and them, the game companies.

Read More HERE

GTA IV PC Delayed To December

Rockstar has delayed the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV
to December 2. Even though the console versions of the
critically-acclaimed shooter were released back in April, the PC
version was originally set for a November launch.

While Rockstar did not give any reasons for the delay, GTA IV for the
PC will feature new enhancements and additions over its console
counterparts. Not only has the game been configured for the mouse and
keyboard controls, but the PC version will allow players to turn the
city's traffic density up, and will feature graphical updates like
better draw distances.

Read More HERE

end, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's developer relations manager
George Bain has revealed that the company will be removing the content
